For those new to this place, Campeche is an “off the radar” part of Mexico. It’s too small, remote and no beaches for much tourism – though there are some Mayan ruins nearby. An old colonial oceanside town, you feel safe and far away from today’s travel hotspots.
In large numbers, baby tarpon live here in/near the mangroves which border many miles of coastline. The babies are 5-40 lbs. When they grow to adult size…yikes…
