Tarpon Town - Fishing Report

Blue Mule came into town. Winter Tarpon!

Great Jump We finally got the opportunity to come down to Campeche and fish with Raul and his excellent staff. On Friday, we boated north of the marina looking for Tarpon rolling in the shallows, Rusty spooked, hooked, jumped, and eventually landed a couple of really nice fish. In the afternoon, I had my turn at casting deck, of course we were in the jungle, were a roll cast really helps. I missed my fish, but I did make them look, which was almost as fun. Thanks Daniel for a great day of fishing. Sunday and Monday were two awesome days of fishing all three of our boats were on fish all day. Everyone landed fish, even Keith who had never cast a fly before, Juan is a great casting instructor and a patient guide. The whole group is looking forward to coming again during Carnival, the parade was amusing. The guys really enjoyed the trip to Edzna , the Mayan archaeological site we toured on Saturday the day a cold front messed the fishing frenesi. Its hard to say what we liked most besides the fishing, it could be the City and Castelmar, the hotel is one of my favorites I get to visit every year.
